As the moment approaches for me to take the stage at Empower: The Leadership Experience, a whirlwind of emotions fills my heart.

After months of preparation—including headshots, a new website (which launched today- thank you PSU Scranton students), a fresh logo, new business cards (Center City Prints), countless hours of research, note-taking, podcast listening, and podcast series interviews with speakers—I’m now in the final stages of preparing my speech.

All this while running a business, raising three kids, caring for two dogs, and writing as much as I can. There are days when things don’t go as planned, and that’s perfectly fine. In a busy schedule, I still find moments to move the needle forward, filling my bucket, and prioritizing high-impact tasks on my best days.

As I stand on the brink of delivering my speech, a familiar surge of nerves grips me. The uncertainty of who will be in the audience weighs heavily on my mind. Yet, I draw strength from a powerful concept shared by Jen Gottlieb on a podcast: the “win’s list.” It’s a practice of acknowledging past victories over fear, a reminder that I’ve conquered similar challenges before. So, despite the flutter of nerves, I’m predominantly filled with anticipation at the prospect of connecting with and empowering even just one person through my words.

This opportunity feels like the culmination of a lifetime of preparation. From my time in the classroom to my pursuits in blogging, podcasting, and recent speaking engagements at local universities, each experience has been a stepping stone leading me to this moment. What brings me the greatest pride is knowing that my children have witnessed this journey firsthand. They’ve observed the late nights of preparation, listened to me rehearse my speech as I paced around the house, and accompanied me on walks where I fine-tuned my message.

It’s in these unseen hours, these moments of solitary dedication, that true growth blossoms. And while many may not grasp the effort behind the scenes, that’s perfectly fine. I approach this opportunity with the same determination and readiness that I bring to every aspect of my life. Because ultimately, I am prepared.

Prepared to share my story, to serve, and to make a difference.
