Hey there, I’m Jenna Urban!
The Cliff Notes
Jenna Urban once immersed in suits, now thrives in sweatpants. As the owner of Urban Mac Media, she spent 17 years teaching before transitioning to higher education—which didn’t unfold as expected. This ultimately led Urban to pivot towards her family’s businesses – Lawn and Order Landscaping and LMJ Sheds.
Urban’s online journey started back in 2009, when she started a money-saving blog and amplified her media presence in local newspapers and live TV segments. She is a fierce advocate for local businesses and side hustles, providing expert marketing consulting in email, and content creation.
Urban also co-hosts the “Sole Sisters Podcast” with her sister where they empower their audience with relatable stories from women in leadership roles.
Whether seeking direction, contemplating a career change, or aiming for self-fulfillment, Urban strives to instill clarity, confidence, and courage, enabling clients to recognize their unique and impactful purposes. She writes about her transformative shift from traditional work to entrepreneurial success on JennaUrban.net.
Urban holds an associate degree from Lackawanna College and bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University.
The Formal Stuff
Mom of three – two boys/1 girl. Spokesperson/Blogger/Educator/Business Owner
Like most moms, I wear many hats. My full time gig is working as a shed girl- operating a local shed business, LMJ Sheds and helping run our family landscaping business, Lawn and Order Landscaping. When I am not playing chauffeur to my three children, ages 17, 14, and 12. I also enjoy working out at the YMCA, watching reality tv, and hanging out with my girlfriends. I love to chat about fun things to do with your family, favorite products, travel tips and of course, frugal ways to have fun as a family. I am a former elementary computer teacher where I spent 17 years before taking the leap to retire and become a business owner. On the side, my sister and I run a podcast to highlight and raise the accomplishments of women in leadership roles over at Sole Sisters Podcast.
I am very active in the community and actually started a committee to bring a holiday event to our town called Home for the Holidays, which promotes local shopping for the holidays, fun activities for the kids and a tree lightening ceremony. As a board member at the local YMCA, it’s my responsibility to help with the youth programs and promoting physical activities to keep our kids healthy and happy. Being a huge tech geek, I work a lot of STEM/STEAM camps during the summer in order to teach kids the benefits of technology and brighten their futures. I also work with the borough to incorporate fun activities for the kids through the local park recreation camps. I also coach all of my children for their basketball teams during the winter and love every minute of it.
ABOUT MY BLOGGING
I started blogging at Bucktown Bargains while on maternity leave from 2011-2014. After being back to work full time, I found it harder to search for deals and post throughout the day, but I found myself still being a resource families.
I have been fortunate to work with some great media and have a friendly relationship that allows me to make appearances for holidays and special occasions. Some of my clips can be found in the bio below.
ABOUT THE FAMILY
I live with my husband, Bob, and three children in Dunmore, Pennsylvania -right outside of Scranton. We have been married for 17 years now (got married on New Years Eve!), Bob owns a landscaping company Lawn and Order and is always on the go. He is the creative genius behind most of the landscaping in our area! Our two boys are now helping dad and learning a little about hard work and financial responsibility.
Let’s Connect!
Ah, social media: the ultimate love-hate dynamic, am I right? Count me in on that rollercoaster. It’s the platform where I spill the beans on the good, the bad, the downright bizarre, and everything else in between. But most importantly, it’s where I get to connect with you one-on-one, and that’s something I truly cherish. Catch you there!
